We seek statisticians who can strengthen existing research and educational statistics programs and can capitalize on the existing interdisciplinary strengths and opportunities afforded by our downtown Denver location and our recent consolidation with the Health Sciences Center.

 

The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences currently has 16 tenured or tenure-track faculty whose research and teaching cover a wide range of areas, including statistics; probability; optimization and operations research; computational biology; computational and engineering mathematics; discrete mathematics, finite geometry, and combinatorics. The Department has approximately 90 M.S. and Ph.D. students, and 100 undergraduate mathematics majors. The Biostatistics programs at the Health Sciences Center (pmb.uchsc.edu/Biostatistics) currently have 16 core faculty and numerous affiliates, and approximately 24 MS and 10 PhD students in Biostatistics.

 

Minimium qualifications for all positions include a doctoral degree in statistics or a related area; research and teaching interests in statistics; and a strong commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to applied statisticians with demonstrated potential for attracting external research funding and with a desire to interact with faculty in this department, other departments on this campus and/or at the Health Sciences Center. The level and track (tenure or non-tenure) of the appointment will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The faculty member will collaborate with other Cancer Center faculty in the development and execution of funded research projects, will conduct methodological and/or applied research in statistics, and will teach courses in biostatistics. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in biostatistics or statistics and have a strong record of independent and collaborative research and teaching as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience and a demonstrated interest in developing and applying statistical methods to important problems in cancer research are required.
