Job description
NST is seeking a talented individual for a permanent research job in the field of mathematical sciences.  The researcher will join the extended decision support group at the Tromso Telemedicine Laboratory. The group is lead by Prof. Fred Godtliebsen from the statistics group at the University of Tromso. The primary responsibility of the researcher will be to contribute to on-going research into scale-space methods for gaining knowledge from data observed as a function of time and/or space, with a focus on problems related to Early Warning Systems and Computer-Aided Diagnostics. This will include advising Ph.D. students in the group, managing projects, and contributing to applications for external research funding.
 
Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D. in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related field with a strong mathematical background. 
A desire to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
 
Additional Qualifications
C/C++ programming experience, project management experience and a record of obtaining research funding are a plus.

Job Description:

Assist with data analysis and data management for health services research projects at a national mental health services research center in the Veterans Affairs health system.

 

Qualifications:

  • Able to program, manage data, and conduct statistical analyses using SAS.
  • Demonstrated data management skills and experience preparing data for analysis.
  • Solid grounding in statistical theory and application; willingness to learn and apply new methods and approaches.
  • Able to work independently and as part of research team.
  • Proficient at data analysis using: multiple regression; analysis of variance; bivariate and univariate descriptive techniques. Familiar with the statistical assumptions underlying these methods. Experience and training with survival analysis, multilevel modeling, and large data sets a plus.

This is an 80%-time, 12-month fixed-term position with renewal at the discretion of the supervisor. There may be an opportunity for an increase above 80%-time depending on future funding. Research Associate Biostatistician

 

The Oregon Clinical and Translation Research Institute (OCTRI) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research (KPCHR) is seeking a research associate biostatistician. The research associate biostatistician will work with faculty biostatisticians in the Biostatistics & Design Program of OCTRI to provide biostatistics support to clinical and translational investigators at OHSU and KPCHR. Responsibilities will include study design consultation, data management and data analysis of OCTRI research projects. Candidates must have an MS in biostatistics, statistics or equivalent, collaborative experience, experience with SAS or other statistical software programs (e.g., S-plus, R, STATA), and strong oral and written communication skills. Although the position is through OCTRI, the person in this position will be part of a growing group of both PhD and MS biostatisticians/statisticians at OHSU in the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Division of Biostatistics, and the OHSU Cancer Institute who work in areas such as clinical research, statistical genetics, longitudinal data analysis, biomarker analysis, and cancer research.

 

The Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute was formed in 2006 via a $55 million five-year award from the National Institutes of Health. This award led to the formation of the Biostatistics and Design Program, which is home to 7 biostatistics faculty. The Biostatistics and Design Programs missions are to provide research support to clinical and translational investigators at OHSU and KPCHR, develop and apply new statistical methodologies and enhance statistical education at OHSU. The person in this position will be able to participate in each of these missions.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) are seeking a distinguished statistical scientist to serve as chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at DFCI. The successful candidate will also be appointed as a tenured professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health and will provide leadership in the cancer training and research program in the department.

 

The Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at the DFCI is an active department of sixteen faculty, twelve doctoral research scientists, and fifteen masters-level statisticians conducting wide-ranging methodological research in biostatistics and computational biology and collaborative research in cancer. The department is home to the statistical centers for the International Breast Cancer Study Group, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and the National Cancer Care and Outcomes Research and Surveillance Consortium, and coordinates the Biostatistics Core Facility for the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. The department is closely affiliated with the Department of Biostatistics at HSPH, where most DFCI faculty hold joint appointments and participate in the graduate training program.
