Bio

I completed my PhD in 2003 under the supervision of Francois Perron at the Universite de Montreal. I did my undergraduate studies at Universite d'Abomey-Calavi, Benin and at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Statistique et d'Economie Appliquee, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. I was visiting student with Jeff Rosenthal at the University of Toronto and research Fellow at Harvard University in 2004 before joining the University of Michigan in 2006.

Research interests

My research interests are in the general area of applied probability, statistical modeling and applications. A central theme of my research is Monte Carlo methods; particularly methodological and theoretical aspects of adaptive Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). The following review (in pdf) gives an introduction to adaptive MCMC. I'm also interested in statistical models / methods and computational algorithms for high-dimensional estimation problems using Markov Random Fields. These models have many interesting applications in social and biological sciences.
